Term 4, 2025 – Language Lab Group
Building Language Through Hands-On Science (Ages 9–12)
About the Program
Join us for Language Lab - a fun and engaging group that combines exciting science experiments with targeted speech and language goals. Designed for children who benefit from structured support, Language Lab creates opportunities for connection, communication, and discovery in a highly engaging setting. Children will explore, discover, and create while building confidence in their communication and social interaction skills.
Program Focus
Each week, participants will take part in hands-on science activities like: Elephant Toothpaste, Mini Volcanoes, Bouncy Balls, Lava Lamps.
These activities are carefully selected to spark curiosity and motivation, encourage group interaction and problem-solving, and support expressive and receptive language growth.
How Language Lab Helps
Language Lab is ideal for children who need support in;
Sequencing (e.g., "first, then, next, last"), following directions (1-step, 2-step, and multi-step instructions),
Using descriptive language (e.g., colours, textures, cause/effect),
Cooperative and social play (e.g., turn-taking, sharing ideas), and
Sensory regulation through tactile and visual input.
The program also supports academic outcomes by linking hands-on learning with procedural texts, such as instructions and reporting results.
